Fury aims dig at Joshua

Tyson Fury has finally had his say on Anthony Joshua’s win against Andy Ruiz Jr and had a dig at the 30-year-old by claiming people are more interested in his upcoming bout against Deontay Wilder.

Joshua beat Ruiz on points last weekend in a display many described as a boxing masterclass and is now being tipped to take on the likes of Fury, Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk next.

Fury has his own high-profile rematch to come when he takes on Wilder on February 22 following their controversial draw last year, and although the Gypsy King conceded that Joshua boxed well against Ruiz, he believes his upcoming fight will be a greater spectacle.

“Fair play to AJ, he outboxed a fella who knocked him out before. It takes a lot of guts and boxing ability. I thought he looked fantastic. I’ve heard the criticism. I’d rather win and stink the place out than lose in a very entertaining fight,” Fury told Behind the Gloves

“Let’s face it, no-one’s really interested in Ruiz and Joshua. They’re just two other heavyweights on a collision course. The real fight is me and Wilder. This is the biggest heavyweight fight of my lifetime. Won’t be a bigger one any time soon.”

Ruiz was widely criticised for appearing to come into the fight overweight, and Fury added, “Well, everyone to their own. I can’t call out anyone out on what they do because I’ve made many mistakes and will continue to do so.

“Maybe he ate too many chocolates or pizzas. Whatever he was eating he came in a little bit too heavy and couldn’t get his shots off.”
