Three Bells Varsity Graduands Bag ICAN Charter Before Graduation

Professor Jeremiah Ojerinde, the Vice Chancellor of Bells University of Technology (Bellstech), Ota, Ogun State, has announced names of three students of the institution who chartered as accountants while still studying in the school, saying 10 others obtained International Certification in Microsoft Office Specialist 2016.

The three graduands, Tobilola Akala; Oluwatobi Falolu and Zainab Ajao are among the 1,053 graduates of the university that will be presented with graduate and postgraduate degrees at the 11th convocation event of the institution.

The VC who disclosed this at a pre-convocation press chat at the Ota campus of the institution said a total of 937 students of the institution would be bestowed with first degrees in the graduate and direct entry categories.

According to him, the degree classifications showed that 68 graduands were in the First Class grade, 474 Second Class Upper; 328 in the Second Class Lower and 63 in the Third Class degrees respectively.

Professor Ojerinde gave the names of the two outstanding students for the conventional and direct programmes as Hamzat Aishat Temitope, a graduate of Economics, and Nancy, a Business Administration graduate with 4.95 and 4.94 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) respectively.

Reiterating the call for the inclusion of private universities in the Trustfund support, he said without being desperate about the issue, private institutions should be considered as partners in ensuring that the Nigerian project achieved success, especially in the provision of the desired high-level manpower needed for the progress of the country.

Advocating for special attention to technical education that is moribund in the country, he urged the government to reinvigorate technical colleges across the country to achieve sustainable technological development.

He noted that most of the technical colleges in the country lacked modern learning facilities and equipment to prepare products of the institutions to meet and be relevant to the world of work and be creative to make positive impacts in the country.

“The Federal Government needs to invest massively in technical colleges across the country by funding them well if it intends to achieve sustainable technological advancement.
