International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine has announced the re-election of a former Vice-Chancellor of the Osun State University, Prof. Bashiru Okesina, as African representative into its executive board for another three years.

Okesina, who is a former president of the African Federation of Clinical Chemistry and a Consultant Chemical Pathologist in the Department of Chemical Pathology and Immunology, University of Ilorin, Kwara State, was first elected in 2017 as the first Nigerian and African to represent Africa in the IFCC Executive Board.

A statement announcing Okesina’s election sighted by our correspondent on Sunday said he had been elected alongside five other representatives from different regions of the world.

According to the letter, the IFCC Executive Board members are elected to serve during period starting “from January  2021 to December 2023 will be presented during the IFCC council meeting later in the year in South Korea.”
