D’Tigers new coach Mike Brown plans to hire a full coaching staff, including player development personnel, video personnel, scouts and medical personnel for the senior national team, Sports Extra can report.

Brown, a Golden State Warriors associate head coach, agreed to terms to become the new head coach for D’Tigers heading to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“The Nigerian Federation leadership team has made it clear to me that they are going to put us in the best possible position to be successful in Tokyo this summer and that includes recruitments,” Brown was quoted as saying by ESPN.

Sports Extra also gathered that ahead of the Olympics D’Tigers will use the Golden States Warriors newly renovated East Bay practice facility in preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Brown could also potentially add one NBA player to the roster who would be granted a Nigerian passport.

Among the players expected are Semi Ojeleye of the Boston Celtics, Wes Iwundu of the Orlando Magic, OG Anunoby of the Toronto Raptors and Miye Oni of the Utah Jazz.

Others are Miami Heats’ Bam Adebayo and Victor Oladipo of the Indiana Pacers if they can be convinced to give up their Team USA eligibility after being added to their preliminary list.

These players could dramatically transform D’Tigers into immediate contenders and Brown could play a big role in securing those commitments.

Brown ranks eighth in NBA history among coaches in win percentage with over 500 games coached at .616.
