Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has recalled all the commissioners, traditional rulers, development centres’ coordinators and other executive council members, he suspended for allegedly violating border regulations, as the state battles the coronavirus pandemic.
Umahi stated this during a live broadcast after a security council meeting at the New Governor’s Lodge, Centenary City, Abakaliki, the state capital on Thursday.
Umahi noted, “I have some good news for you. It is a day of forgiveness. Let me start with our traditional rulers in Afikpo North and Ivo Local Government Areas of the state. We didn’t them to be on the road. You are the custodians of the culture and traditions of the people and that’s why we got angry with you, because you did not control your people. And as a result, we placed you on half salary; but we lift that order,” he said.
“All the commissioners and other executive council members that have been on suspension, are hereby lifted and recalled. They should resume their job and all the people that have been working on half salary, are hereby made to start receiving full salary. They are also forgiven and reinstated.
“The Coordinators of Afikpo North and Ivo Local Government Areas, are forgiven. The two hotels that were sealed in Amasiri and Abakaliki, let us unseal them. They are forgiven.”
Umahi, who also ordered the release of all impounded vehicles, motorcycles and tricycles to their owners, warned all government functionaries to take their job seriously or get relieved of their offices.
