UBEC trains Kogi special education teachers

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), in collaboration with the Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), has organised a three-day capacity building workshop for special needs education teachers in the state.

The Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi, at opening of the workshop in Lokoja, said the training was part of government’s effort in ensuring that all children of school age, irrespective of their status, had access to quality basic education.

Dr. Bobboyi who was represented by Mallam Abdulmumuni Abdulsalam, said the training was to equip special needs education teachers with up-to-date knowledge to handle pupils with variety of disabilities.

The Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Com. Suleiman Abdullahi Ndalayi, called on parents to accord priority to children with disabilities and that schools were provided structures and needed facilities for special education across.
