Time to Heal NGO holds sensitization conference in Abuja
Encourages women to speak up against violence
- According to research, at least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime with the abuser usually someone known to her.
A Non-Governmental Organization known as Time to Heal whose aims and objectives includes to stop violence against women and children and help women to speak up against violence convened a three-day conference in Abuja.
The convenor, Mrs Abiola Crown during the event emphasized on the fact that violence against a woman is any form of discrimination against her.
According to research, at least one out of every three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime with the abuser usually someone known to her. It was on this note that such a conference became inevitable as the need to enlighten women on the issues of violence against them arises.
The event which was a convergence of women from different walks of life attracted many participants who gathered to discuss and profer solution to violence against women.
The group which is also in collaboration with other NGO’s like International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), therefore, call on Nigerians to shun every form of violence for peaceful coexistence.
