The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore on Wednesday challenged the vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa over the absence of his principal, Atiku Abubakar at the 52nd ICAN Annual Accounting Conference.
Sowore, who was invited as one of the presidential candidates to speak to participants at the 52nd ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) Annual Accounting Conference on their agenda for 2023 general elections, queried Okowa on why he was at the event to represent Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate.
“Please I don’t like when presidential candidates are represented by their deputies but you can have the way,” the activist was heard saying to the Delta State Governor in a trending video.
Responding, Okowa said, “I don’t have to make complaints, we are here.”
Sowore had during the event mocked his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu for not showing up.
He had said, “The candidate that did not show up is supposed to be an accounting guru from Chicago State University but he refused to show up at the most important accounting event in Nigeria today.”
In September, Sowore also confronted Tinubu’s running mate, Kashim Shettima over the former Lagos governor’s absence at the signing of the peace accord for the 2023 elections in Abuja.
The activist maintained that Shettima should not be sitting where presidential candidates were seated.
In a viral video, Sowore was also seen engaging the presidential candidate of the Action Alliance and former Chief Security Officer to the late General Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (retd.).
Posting the video on his Facebook page, Sowore captioned it, “At the presidential “Peace Accord” signing ceremony event in Abuja, a chance to tell Abacha’s henchman Al-Mustapha some truths! ..Kashim Shettima ought not be allowed to sit where presidential candidates should sit…I challenged him too!”
