- “The plan is to take this programme beyond Lagos by extending it to one state every year till the entire country is covered,” Akinkunle said.
The founder, Honey’s Place Foundation, Mrs Oyinlola Akinkunle, has stressed the need for individuals and corporate bodies to give scholarships to indigent pupils, saying it will reduce the number of out-of-school children.
Akinkunle stated this on Friday in Lagos at an event organised by the foundation to give scholarships and educational materials to 10 indigent pupils.
She said since the foundation started in 2017, no fewer than 20 indigent pupils have benefited from her initiative, advising parents not to relent in giving the best education to their children.
“Not only that, the foundation is complementing the government’s efforts at addressing the problem of malnutrition among students by ensuring that no student goes to school on empty stomach through its school feeding programme. It has the vision to reduce the number of out-of-school children to the barest minimum and contribute to reducing the spate of social vices in our society by encouraging children enrollment in schools.
“The plan is to take this programme beyond Lagos by extending it to one state every year till the entire country is covered,” Akinkunle said.
