Osun Empowers 1,000 Women Farmers

Alhaja Kafayat Oyetola, wife of Osun state governor, through her pet project, Ilerioluwa Initiative, has empowered no fewer than 1,000 women farmers with seedlings and financial assistance.

Osun state commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Barrister Olubukola Olaboopo, who disclosed this while speaking on the achievements recorded by her ministry explained that no less than 200 indigent women in the state would be empower before the end of the first quarter of this year and be made to stand on their own.

She said no stone will be left unturned in empowering women in the state. She urged women in the state to mount aggressive advocacy against rape, domestic violence and other forms of oppression. According to her:”

We organized sensitization programme to commemorate elimination of violence against women and the whole of Osun came out to join us in the crusade, including the deputy governor, Mr Gboyega Alabi, and other cabinets members, men, and women from all cadres were involved in the fight against violence against women in the state”.

“Apart from that, we also commemorated the International Women Right Day where we had all women in the state assembled.

We were able to get resource person from Ministry of Justice who are legal luminaries to sensitize our women on what their rights are and for them to be able to identify when such right is violated and how they would able to seek redress when they notice that their rights are being violated”.
