Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has said his administration will focus on agriculture and technical training to create jobs for youths in the state.
Sule said this at the palace of the Emir of Keffi, Dr Shehu Yamusa, where he received Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, who was in the state to launch the Federal Government’s Tradermoni scheme at Keffi Market.
He said his administration had been initiating several intervention projects aimed at creating employment for the people.
The governor said the state government would inaugurate a centre where youths would be trained in carpentry and wielding fabrication, among others.
Yamusa appealed to the Federal Government to review the country’s education system, focusing on vocational skill acquisition.
The monarch also made a case for traditional rulers to be given constitutional roles because of their contributions to national development.
Osinbajo said the FG was working towards repositioning the education sector.
The VP said, “Education is key to economic success, it’s the key to self-realisation and it is the key that enables a person to live a dignified life.
“We hope we will be able to get the cooperation of the states. We are going to do all we can to support all states.”
