- The former Imperia Academy player has failed to nail down a shirt at the Opel Arena since joining on loan from the Reds this season.
On-loan Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s fate at Bundesliga side, Mainz, will be determined by the Anfield outfit says, the 05ers manager, Rouven Schroder.
The former Imperia Academy player has failed to nail down a shirt at the Opel Arena since joining on loan from the Reds this season.
Awoniyi’s woes were further compounded by the return of star striker, Jean-Philippe Mateta, further pushing him down the pecking order.
And despite the transfer window shutting down in Europe’s major leagues, Schroder isn’t ruling out an exit, adding that the Nigerian failed to utilise his chances.
“There were and there are opportunities, but ultimately Liverpool and their management have to take the final decision.
“Unfortunately, he has not used his chances.
“Now, of course, he’s giving his everything, with the competition ahead of him,” he told Kicker.
The Nigeria U-23 international joined the Reds in 2015 but has since spent his time out on loan, with the club unable to secure a UK work permit.
