A Lebanese community in Nigeria, Lebanese Nigeria Initiative, says it will award full Master’s of Business Administration scholarship worth $1.5m to two young Nigerians every year at the American University, Beruit, Lebanon.

This, it believes, will strengthen the good relationship between Nigeria and Lebanon.

According to a statement, the scholarship will enable two Nigerians to attend AUB every year for life, except if the university which is about 300 years old ceases to exist.

While presenting one of the beneficiaries, Ajibola Olubando, in Lagos, the Consul General of Lebanon in Nigeria, Mr Elias Nicolas, said the scholarship scheme “is aimed at further strengthening the existing friendly relations between the two countries.”

The Consul General said the Lebanese community had always seen itself as part of the social fabric of Nigeria, noting that the scholarship was a sign of its commitment towards the educational uplift of young Nigerians.
