The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board on Wednesday said it had started a process to review some policies in the basic education sector in order to conform with international best practices.
The Chairman of LASUBEB, Wahab Alawiye-King, stated this at a capacity development workshop organised by the board for the management staff and stakeholders in the basic education sector.
A statement said the workshop held at the Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
Alawiye-King, according to the statement, noted that the workshop was to keep abreast with developments and trends in the basic education sector and exchange ideas on issues of common interest.
“This workshop is designed to address some of the challenges and issues raised by our basic education quality assurance officers. It is a practical and technical approach, as well as a response to some of the challenges raised during inspections,” he said.
On the Eko Excel initiative, Alawiye-King said the programme, which had been widely commended, should be re-examined to identify grey areas “in a more critical and holistic manner such that areas that need amendment and review would be given due attention promptly.
He explained that the Education Quality Assurance Officers of the board during their tour of schools also made recommendations to improve the home-grown feeding programme.
