- Eurozone's Business Climate Indicator misses market expectations of 0.08 as BCI declines to -0.12
Business Climate Indicator (BCI) is a policy instrument that evaluates the development conditions of the manufacturing sector globally specifically the euro area every month.The Business Climate Indicator (BCI) for the Euro Area declined by 0.29 points to -0.12 in July 2019, missing market expectations of 0.08. That was the lowest reading since September 2013, as managers’ assessments of past production, their production expectations, as well as their views on overall and export order books deteriorated.
Only their assessment of the level of stocks improved. Business Confidence in the Euro Area averaged 0 Index Points from 1985 until 2019, reaching an all time high of 1.62 Index Points in January of 2018 and a record low of -3.30 Index Points in March of 2009.
