Professor Kayode Soremekun, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), has revealed that the university has made proposal of N1 billion for the provision of adequate security in the two campuses being run by the institution.

This is as he revealed that of the 1,000 graduates that would be awarded degrees at their fast approaching convocation, 35 of them bagged first class honours.

Meanwhile, Soremekun said the university was to spend a sum of N100 million on research across pivotal areas of the nation building, saying the institution was desirous to make more breakthroughs that would benefit the country.

He said it would be dangerous for the country to rely on external bodies to design research agenda for Nigeria, noting that national bodies must rise up to fund researches so that its outcome could be localised and also beneficial to the country.

Soremekun spoke in Oye Ekiti on Monday during a press conference heralding the 2nd combined convocation ceremony of the institution slated for August 31, 2019. He also said that 366 of the graduates bagged second class honours degrees
