Ekiti State Governor, Kayemi Fayemi, has promised he would ensure Ekiti United gained promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League next season.
While speaking with Goal, Fayemi said his administration would ensure the state regained the lost glory in sports.
According to Fayemi, Ekiti State will use the 2020 National Sports Festival in Edo State to announce its return to relevance in sports in the country.
“God had been good to Ekiti State under my watch, we are really moving to greater heights, the state is developing, restoring the values, including our values in sports,” Fayemi said.
“We used to be a very known sporting state but things have not been quite what we would have loved it to be, this was the state that produced (Olusoji) Fasuba, Oluyemi Kayode, Tosin Oribamise and now, we are announcing to Nigerians that we are back and ready to take other states on and we would demonstrate that at Edo 2020 (National Sports Festival).
