The 2015 African champions lost the first quarter 22-14 before unleashing their might on the East Africans, winning the next three quarters 16-9; 14-10 and 20-10.
Keith Omoerah emerged the highest scorer for Nigeria with 13 points, three rebounds and one steal from 23 minutes. Abdul Malik Abu and Ike Iroegbu both scored nine points apiece while Ike Nwamu and Chima Moneke settled for eight points respectively.
Rwanda’s Alex Mpoyo’s 14 points was the highest of the game, while Jean Nshobozwabyosenumukiza scored 11 points.
Nigeria’s last game of the qualifiers comes up on Friday against Mali.
The 2021 AfroBasket is scheduled to hold in Kigali, the Rwandan capital, from August 24 to September 5.
