In view of governorship election  coming up on November 16, 2019 in Bayelsa State, the Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State lacks the political presence at all levels to win the election.

The Former President who stated this yesterday during the meeting of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants and leaders at Government House, Yenagoa said the large number of aspirants in the PDP shows that the party has an upper hand against its opponent.

Meanwhile, the former president and the state governor, Seriake Dickson, held a closed-door meeting with aspirants and leaders of the party at the Government House.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Relations, Fidelis Soriwei, after the meting, quoted the former president as saying that the PDP had all it takes to win landslide in the forthcoming ballot.

According to him, the large number of aspirants in the party reveals the magnanimous believe of PDP in democracy and it is important for the PDP to get its acts together, so that it would not create room for opportunistic platforms to steal the party’s victory.

“I need to plead with all the aspirants and political leaders that there should be no mudslinging. We must free the space and eschew rancour because finally one person will become the candidate of the party, and for that one person to win the election, all aspirants must work for that person.”

He also called on the national leadership to support the effort of the state in providing a level-playing ground for all the aspirants.
