Joe Aribo’s importance is not lost on fellow Glasgow Rangers’ teammate, Scott Arfield, who admits that the Nigeria international’s goal against Hamilton Academicals and fluidity in attack was a huge asset to the team.

Aribo remains one of the key men in Steven Gerrard’s first team, scoring two league goals and grabbing eight assists as the club attempt to wrestle the Ladbrokes title from eternal rivals, Celtic.

The 23-year-old once again proved his value in the ‘Gers’ 4-1 rout of Hamilton Academicals by grabbing the second goal to restore the Ibrox outfit’s lead and, secure a passage into the next round of the Scottish Cup.

“For us in the building, it’s maybe not been as fluid in an attacking sense, but if you score goals at the right time then opinions change.

“We’ve not been as fluid in games at home against the likes of Stranraer, St Mirren and Ross County. However, goals such as Joe Aribo’s against Hamilton change the momentum and attitudes around a match.”

Arfield’s comment was also buttressed by Scottish tabloid, Daily Record, who also analysed Aribo’s role in the ‘Gers’ win over Hamilton.

“Rangers again dominated possession against Accies in the last 16 tie, but it needed Aribo’s strike midway through the second half to ease the tension around a match that should have been put to bed in the first half.”
