The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board said training of teachers would assist the government to get the expected result from its investment in school infrastructure.
LASUBEB Board Chairman, Wahab Alawiye-King, stated this at a five-day capacity building workshop for early childcare development educators with the theme, ‘Effective management of the classroom.’
Alawiye-King, who noted that the state government wanted teachers that were academically and professionally qualified, said the training was to empower them for higher callings through the acquisition of necessary skills required of them to be competitive anywhere in the world.
He said, “We can have the best of infrastructure but if we do not have the right sets of teachers, I do not think the learning outcome we are going to get is going to be very encouraging. The world is evolving on a daily basis and in order for us to survive in a competitive world, we need extraordinary skills; we need additional skills and that is why it is necessary for us to provide these skills for you.”
He urged the participants to take advantage of the training and be prepared to let the outcome of the training reflect positively in the performance of the pupils in Lagos public primary schools.
