The Academic Staff Union of Universities chapter of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has threatened to disrupt academic activities at the school if Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola fails to pay them their outstanding two months’ salaries by the end of this month.
The school is jointly owned by Oyo and Osun states.
ASUU claimed the Osun State Government scheduled to pay subvention between July and December 2019 only paid in July and refused to pay for August and September, making payment of salary payment impossible.
The union at the end of their congress said they should not be blamed if academic activities at the school were disrupted again.
In a statement by LAUTECH ASUU Chairman, Dr Biodun Olaniran, and Secretary, Dr Toyin Abegunrin, the union accused Oyetola of failing to release money since August to pay workers.
According to them, their members are owed six years’ unpaid Earned Academic Allowances.
