Poultry Farmers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) Ebonyi state chapter is to probe sale of poultry vaccines in the state to forestall fake products.
They vowed to bring to an end fake vaccines and unhealthy birds in the poultry industry in the state.
The association yesterday said it would begin to visit those that sell poultry vaccines across the state to checkmate fake vaccines which it said has wrecked havoc in poultry business.
New Chairman of the association, Comrade Nwobegu John stated this in Abakaliki during the union’s election.
He said the decision to wipe out fake vaccines and unhealthy birds in the industry were to sanitize the system and improve the business.
Nwobegu said the union will identify with genuine in-put providers so as to bring to an end roadside suppliers.
“We will do a thorough investigation to know those who are qualified to be in this business, know their source of birds because some of them go by roadside and bring birds in the name of companies, but first, we will invite these companies and have seminar with them and they will tell us their major distributors. Three companies are already on ground to conduct the seminar to enable us bring an end to fake vaccines and unhealthy birds in Ebonyi state”, he said.
National Vice President southeast of the group, Ahanenye Chibundu urged the members to ensure that the state and federal government policy in banning imported poultry products was achieved.
