The Olu of Ibogun in the Coker-Ibogun local community development area of Ogun state, Oba Fakayode Faluade, has put in place plans for the first Oba Fakayode Faluade’s scholarship scheme for indigent students of Ibogun with a screening exercise, which took place recently at Ibogun Comprehensive High School, Ibogun, Ifo, Ogun State.

In a statement by Oba (Dr.) Fakayode Faluade, the annual scholarship offers had the approval of the Coker-Ibogun LCDA and the Ogun State Ministry of Education and were for deserving Ibogun indigenes seeking admission into the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese-Ijebu, Ogun State.

The monarch said he would rest of his oars in assisting Ibogun indigenes in their quest to get good education, adding that this was in conformity with his firm belief that education is the bedrock of a nation

He further noted that the scholarship scheme was based on his desire to breed a team of graduates that would impact largely and influence the society. “As a father, I am largely concerned about my society and environment and this is just one of my many ways of contributing to nation’s education sector in particular and nation building in general”, Oba Faluade stressed.

He explained that the scholarship scheme was one of the ways through which he could demonstrate love to the Nigerian students and the society at large, stressing that he believed so much in giving back to the society through various philanthropic initiatives, which would have lasting effects on the lives of the students.

He implored the Ogun state government to assist the community aid by building more schools for the growing student population, thereby complementing the Ibogun Grammar School complex being put in place by him.

He, however, urged all Ibogun youths to take advantage of the scholarship scheme to further their studies in the state-owned College of Education for both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.
