Queen Park Rangers Director of Football, Les Ferdinand, has admitted that it will be difficult for the club to hold on to Eberechi Eze in the summer if they fail to gain promotion to the English Premier League.
The player of Nigerian descent has been one of the best players in the Championship this season finding the back of the net 11 times in 34 appearances while providing six assists in the league.
With Chelsea, Tottenham, Southampton and others showing interest in the player, Ferdinand believes the only reason he will stay at the club past this season is if the R’s gain promotion to the EPL, which at the moment looks unlikely.
“It’s going to be very difficult,” Ferdinand told football.london. “When you have a player of his quality doing well in your team nobody wants to see him go.
“I had to fend off a few offers in the January window and, I’m sure if he continues to play in the manner he is playing and adds a few more goals to his game, I’m expecting us to get offers in during the summer.”
Ferdinand says with the player’s qualities, he sees him capable of playing for a top-six side.
“I think if you look at his ability, I see him playing for one of the top six sides,” added the ex-Spurs frontman.
QPR are currently 15th on the league table and 23 points behind log leaders West Brom, while they are 13 points off the play-offs zone with 12 games left in the league.
